No decade demonstrates excess like the 1980's. There was everything from boom boxes, Walkmans, Dirty Dancing, the Breakfast Club,to Michael Jackson's Bad, Madonna, Run DMC, Princess Diana, Pat Benatar, Journey, Foreigner, and let's not forget good ole Ronald Regan. It was perfectly acceptable to say things such as rad, tubular, dope or my bad, and this decade also made it acceptable to say "like" at the beginning of every sentence. The fashion was best of all! Big hair, mini skirts, shoulder pads leg warmers, oversized tops, jumpsuits, and neon were quintessential to the 80s. Fortunately for those of us who did not get to live out the 80's, some of the loud, vibrant, and fun fashion trends continue to live on through modern interpretations.

"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn." - Orson Welles
When I was a young girl, I was incredibly shy, but I have always managed to find a way for my voice to be heard through style and fashion. I think it's important for people, especially women, to use style to define themselves. There's a lot more to developing personal style than most people realize. Age, occupation, experience, lifestyle, inspiration, surroundings, comfort, and instincts are all factors that are important to consider when determining your personal style. Also remember that it is okay for you to tweak your style day to day to reflect your mood. What's your style?
"I am someone who is fun, adventurous, confident, flashy, and edgy. I knew my outfit communicated that message precisely when I received stares from people including Ringo, as I strolled through Central Park."
