Outfit of the Month - March 2016

Posted on March 20, 2016 at 11:10 PM Comments comments (28)

Spring break is one of my favorite times of the year. Almost every year that I have been in school, spring break has fallen during the month of March, and has worked out in my favor. My immediate family and I all have March birthdays, so for as long as I can remember we have taken a celebratory trip for our birthday month. Last week I enjoyed spring break in Turks and Caicos. Each day I woke up to the magnificent transparent blue ocean water, the white sand beach, and clear skies. It was trul...

Hello, it's me...Spring?

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a happy Leap Day!! I cannot believe how fast the month flew by! Last month, I completed the first of hopefully many things on my 2016 bucket list.  I attended Zenni Optical's Eyewear Preview of their Metropolitan Collection that launched last Monday, February 22nd, and I attended Asia Fashion Collection's F|W 17 Show. I also tagged along to Wayne, NJ, with my wonderful roommate Rachael, to attend the grand opening party of NYX Professional Makeup Store at W...

Outfit of the Month - February 2016

Posted on February 6, 2016 at 10:50 AM Comments comments (0)

February has arrived and I am ecstatic to report that we are well on our way to SPRING! We survived the snowpocalypse and January is history. Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself, but between Fashion Week, the Super Bowl, Central Park winter festivities, Valentine's Day, and who knows what else, Spring will be here in no time. As for right now, I will be making myself comfortable in these awesome knit bell bottoms and this fabulous faux fur coat.

Outfit of the Month - January 2016

Posted on January 15, 2016 at 2:30 PM Comments comments (0)

I know January is supposed to be a time to start over and “reinvent” yourself, but somehow it has always managed to be the month I dread most each year. The holiday season comes to an end, it seems as if it is dark nearly 24/7, the weather is bitterly cold, and I quite literally feel as if the life is being sucked out of me. Nevertheless, the month is halfway over now, and I have maintained a positive outlook. I have tried my best to focus my energy on the things that lift my spir...

New Year. No New Resolutions!

Posted on January 4, 2016 at 9:00 PM Comments comments (0)

New Year's resolutions are great in theory, but almost always turn out to be bottomless and unfulfilling. If you are unwilling to make a commitment any other time throughout the year, it is unlikely that you will feel more compelled to make the same commitment on January 1st. It’s not very rational to believe that you can select one day out of the entire year to commit to making a major life change. You have to be willing to commit every day of your life. After years of setting m...

Greetings to all! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season. With the arrival of the new year, I just wanted give you all a brief update. It has been four fantastic months, and I have successfully completed a semester at my new school. However, I have found that I have not been able to dedicate enough time to Erika's Closet. Festival Fashion

This past weekend I was blessed with the opportunity to attend San Fransisco's Outside Lands Music Festival!! It was a one-of-a-kind experience, from Choco Lands, Wine Lands, Camp Grounded, food trucks, bright lights, and Kendrick Lamar. Overall, it was a great time spent with some great people. Most importantly, I had the chance to go all out with my bohemian wear and I got to set my spirit free!

Seasons Change

Posted on August 2, 2015 at 7:20 PM Comments comments (0)

August is here, and we all know what that means...the end of Summer hours, casual dress codes, ice cream socials, sunny adventures… and the end of Summer. So it’s back to work, and back to school as the days grow colder and shorter. Naturally that all sounds pretty depressing; however, this year, I am actually not heartbroken over the Summer ending. This autumn and this upcoming school year mark the moment I have been subconsciously waiting for my entire life...becoming a tru...

Erika's Closet Turns 1!

Posted on May 30, 2015 at 3:30 PM Comments comments (0)

I never thought I could change so much in one year. Just a little over a year ago, I was so lost and aimless. For the better part of three years, I had constantly experienced unexplainable feelings of inadequateness, hopelessness, guilt, agony, and shame. I could not explain or justify my feelings to anyone, so I showed on most days with a smile plastered across my face. I was trying to be a “functional” human being. I felt pressured to be what I needed to be for everyone except f...
